Advocacy and Sensemaking
CCVO is actively involved in giving voice to critical issues affecting nonprofits and advocating for policies that better support the sector. CCVO also supports the policy capacity of nonprofits by providing timely and relevant analysis. This year CCVO continued to advocate for adequate funding for nonprofits and commitments that support nonprofits within platforms leading up to the Provincial election .

The report shows the crisis that Alberta nonprofits are in juggling heightened demand, increasingly complex needs, and decreasing revenue. The report includes a call for immediate investment.500+
letters supporting Too Essential To Fail's request for support were sent to government. This campaign was led by The Nonprofit Vote, a platform for nonprofit advocacy. The Nonprofit Vote lets Alberta nonprofits have a unified voice for the sector. Nonprofit Vote partners are located across the province.First Day on The Legislature
On December 7, 2022 CCVO had our first day on the legislature supported by ABNN and The Nonprofit Vote. Organizations met with the Ministries of Immigration and Multiculturalism; Mental Health and Addictions; Culture; Health; Finance; Jobs, Economy and Northern Development as well as the UCP caucus, NDP caucus, and deputy premier’s office. The purpose of these meetings was to raise awareness of the strength of Alberta’s nonprofits and the challenges they face as well as to advance the campaign for $30 million in immediate relief.
