Policy & Government Relations
Why do policy?
CCVO’s vision is a vital, dynamic nonprofit sector that is recognized and respected as an integral partner in building strong, healthy communities. We aim to be a recognized expert, trusted voice, credible source of information, and a bold advocate for the nonprofit sector in order to support organizations to thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment.
The communities we serve depend on us to engage in policy work, to be proactive in anticipating policy developments, to represent the sector by bringing diverse and different voices to the policy table, and to achieve a positive impact.

What we do
CCVO’s policy work touches all three levels of government and plays an important role in representing the interests of nonprofits. We also aim to support the policy capacity of nonprofits, provide timely and relevant analysis, and be a leader in creating positive outcomes for the sector.
how we do it
Here are the types of products you can expect from CCVO: reports, sector research, blog posts, news updates, policy briefs, government relations resources, and workshops. The table below highlights some examples of the kinds of activities you can expect from CCVO to move our policy priority areas forward, as we advocate on behalf of the sector.
Policy Priority Areas
CCVO is committed to transparency and as such, we are pleased to share our policy priorities and will review these periodically to make sure that our work stays aligned with the needs of the nonprofit sector and current issues. These policy priorities reflect areas where we intend to show leadership in advocating for the best outcomes for the nonprofit sector, sharing our insights and knowledge, and providing analysis on relevant policy issues.
To make sure you’re getting the policy-related updates you need, when you need them, CCVO regularly reports policy news and analysis as soon as they happen.
