The intersecting rings of our logo represent the network of the CCVO and its membership, and the links that unite us across common issues. Featured Keynote Speaker Judith Maxwell, Founding President, Canadian Policy Research Networks (CPRN). Ms. Maxwell spoke to CPRN’s path-breaking report, Passion and Commitment Under Stress: Human Resource Issues in Canada's Non-profit Sector, examining the human resource factors that threaten the sustainability of voluntary organizations and suggesting measures to relieve the pressure.

At the session, two questions were raised requesting more information about the union representation in the research as well as pension benefit comparisons among the sectors. These statistics can be found in:

Organizations. Ms. Scott's presentation provided a national perspective on the current funding regime as well as future directions on funding.

Collaboration with business and multiple levels of government is essential to addressing the challenges facing our city and Calgary has some excellent examples of how effective collaborative effort can be. The Calgary Children’s Initiative, the Calgary Homeless Foundation and HomeFront exemplify this partnership model at work.

 

Regulatory Changes for Canadian Charities - May 18, 2004

The 2004 Federal Budget introduced regulatory changes to Canadian charities for the first time in more than 20 years. Bob Wyatt, Voluntary Sector Co-chair of the Joint Table on Legal and Regulatory Reform - whose report led to these regulatory changes - recently gave a presentation in Calgary explaining the impact of the changes and what charities need to do to get ready for them.
