Winter 2007- Provincial Labour Force Strategy for the Voluntary Sector
In early 2007, CCVO and other sector representatives will work with the provincial government to develop a Labour Force Strategies for the Voluntary Sector that address the sector's HR challenges. A variety of organizations in the sector will also be asked to participate and share their perspectives and ideas on how to address labour issues. It is anticipated that the strategy will be released in spring 2007.

Highlights of Human Resources Research in Community-Based Nonprofits (2007)
This report is the first stage of a multi-year HR initiative, and it serves as a starting point for discussion about the future of Alberta’s voluntary sector workforce. It provides background information for considering the implications of a general shortage of skilled labour and the increasingly competitive market conditions in Calgary and across the province. CCVO undertook this paper on behalf of a working group convened by United Way of Calgary and Area (with funding from the United Way of Calgary and Area).

Spotlight on HR Issues (September 2006) Keynote Presentation-
Keynote speaker Bonnie Shiell, Research Manager with the HR Council for the Nonprofit/Voluntary Sector provided an overview of her organization's work to address HR issues in the sector, and current challenges including attracting and retaining staff in the sector. She also provided strategis planning tips organizations can use to help plan for their future labour and HR needs.

Keynote presentation. Keynote Speaker Keith Seel, Director, Institute of Nonprofit Studies, Mount Royal College presented his findings from the Strengthening the Capacity of Executive Directors (June 2004) pilot project that uses peer circles to help improve quality and job satisfaction of Executive Directors.
