Excellence in Grantmaking Conference a Great Success

CCVO is committed to ensuring that funding, grantmaking and philanthropic practice best reflects the needs and realities of both recipient and funder. We lead the organizing committee for the Excellence in Grantmaking conference, the only one of its kind in Canada, which brings together government, corporate, foundation and individual supporters of the voluntary sector. Last week at the 3rd bi-annual sold-out conference, attendees heard preliminary findings on the impact of the economy on the sector in Alberta and learned about recommended funding practice in times of economic turmoil. Effective ways to support a range of collaborative options and examples of promising and evolving funding practice were also shared. The increased knowledge and connections that come from the conference will positively influence how charities and nonprofits are supported in our community.
