Charitable Donations Review

The House of Commons will begin a review of the tax incentives surrounding charitable giving in Canada when Parliament resumes next week. CCVO made a submission to the House of Commons Finance Committee in which we requested the committee develop incentives that benefit organizations across the charitable sector, expand the pool of donors and levels of contributions, and support an efficient and enabling regulatory requirement. We also supported Imagine Canada's proposal to introduce a Stretch Tax Credit, which would increase the federal charitable tax credit for individuals by 10% on all NEW giving that exceeds previous donations.
