Alberta Voluntary Sector Insurance Council
CCVO is a member of the Alberta Voluntary Sector Insurance Council, or AVSIC, which brings together the voluntary sector, insurance industry and Government of Alberta to address insurance-related issues affecting the voluntary sector.
AVSIC defines the voluntary sector as groups and organizations whose work is not-for-profit and governed by a board of volunteers. It does not include quasi-governmental groups such as hospitals or universities
The role of AVSIC is to:
- Link to other provincial & national groups and forums.
- Facilitate & direct research and data collection.
- Develop recommendations on improving affordability, accessibility, stability and public policy.
The priority issues for AVSIC include:
- Securing reliable and accurate data about the voluntary sector’s insurance needs and requirements
- Ensuring the insurance industry has a better understanding of the voluntary sector
- Working with the voluntary sector to develop a better understanding of the insurance industry
- Assessment risk performance and benefits in the voluntary sector
