CCVO Launches New In Brief Publication
CCVO has launched a new series of short In Brief notes that provide a quick snapshot of timely and relevant information about key issues affecting the sector. The In Brief notes include an analysis of how the issue is expected to affect the sector, how organizations may respond, and where organizations can go for more information. Update on Federal Government Cuts- Share Your Story
Since the announcement of $1 billion in federal cuts, CCVO has heard from a number of members whose programs are affected. Are your programs or operations impacted by the cuts? Share your story with CCVO by emailing kmustard@calgarycvo.org so we can help the sector assess the final impact of the cuts in our community and develop strategies as we move ahead. New CCVO Resources about Alberta PC Leadership Race
As part of our provincial policy work, CCVO has posted information about the Alberta PC leadership race on our website at www.calgarycvo.org. Donner Award Finalists Includes 3 Calgary Agencies
The Donner Awards recognize excellence in nonprofits delivering social services. Three of the total 28 finalists are Calgary-based organizations: The Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank, The Calgary Pregnancy Care Centre, and Fresh Start Recovery Centre. CCVO Fall Newsletter Online
Visit CCVO online at www.calgarycvo.org to read out fall 2006 newsletter. Released in late September, the newsletter provides updates on our meeting with Alberta PC Leadership candidates, policy work on a number of issues, research into human resources issues, and more.
CCVO Spotlight on HR Issues event Presentation Online
The September presentation by keynote speaker Bonnie Shiell, Research Manager with the HR Council for the Nonprofit/Voluntary Sector is now on CCVO’s website. The presentation includes an overview of current challenges including attracting and retaining staff in the sector and strategic planning tips organizations can use to help plan for their future labour and HR needs.
New Study on Funding Practices
The Canadian Council on Social Development (CCSD) has released a new study on funding in the nonprofit sector. Pan-Canadian Funding Practice in Communities: Challenges and Opportunities for the Government of Canada was commissioned by Task Force on Community Investment as part of its mandate to develop more consistent and coherent funding practices to community investments across the Government of Canada.
