March 23-24- Workshop for Alberta’s Environmental NGO’s
The Maximizing Effectiveness 2007 workshop, hosted by the Alberta Ecotrust Foundation is designed specifically for staff and volunteers in environmental NGOs. The workshop will focus on four key areas of organizational capacity over two-days with some of the best experts in the field. New Process for Registration under Alberta’s Charitable Fundraising Act
If your organization fundraises more than $25,000 from individuals annually, you need to register under Alberta’s Charitable Fundraising Act. After April 1, 2007, organizations can no longer register or renew with Alberta Registry Agents, instead they need to register by mail or in person with one of two Consumer Field Offices. Provincial STEP Funding Available for Sector Deadline Feb. 28
Alberta’s nonprofits and charities can apply for provincial Summer Temporary Employment Program (STEP) funding to help offset the cost of hiring support for 6 weeks between April 30 and August 31. For details and an application, visit the Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry website.

Imagine Canada Op-ed About Canadian’s Generosity

Online Communications Training From IMPACS
Starting February 27, Vancouver-based IMPACS is offering a new round of Ready! Set! Go! Workshops. CRA Offers New Online Resources

Province Seeking Affordable Housing Ideas
A new Provincial task force is seeking innovative and practical ways to make affordable housing more accessible and available to Albertans including subsidized rental, and home ownership. Community meetings in Calgary, Edmonton, Elk Point, Fort McMurray, Grande Prairie, Hinton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Red Deer from February 16 to 28. The nominations are for the 10th-annual Minister's Seniors Service Awards, which honour individuals and organizations for their exceptional service and commitment to Alberta's seniors.
