News of changing global economic conditions has led to discussions, debates and questions about the impact on nonprofits and charities. We encourage you to take 10 minutes to fill out a CCVO survey to help us build a more informed profile of what is happening in our sector and community. Survey closes November 21.

Community Spirit Program Toolkit now available
This resource is provided by the Department of Culture and Community Spirit to assist non-profit and charitable organizations. The Toolkit contains information on the provincial enhanced charitable tax credit, as well as the donation grant program.
Charity Central - Your input sought
Charity Central, a two-year CRA-sponsored project to develop educational resources and support services for registered charities, requests your participation in a needs assessment survey. The primary objective of the survey is to better understand what resources would assist registered charities in meeting CRA requirements in the areas of fundraising, receipting, and record keeping.

Calgary HR Initiative releases report
The Calgary HR Initiative is pleased to release The Myths and Realities of the Workforce Crunch in Non-Profits, which looks at both rumors surrounding nonprofit workers and the current reality of the non-profit HR situation.
Imagine Canada presents report & event on corporate philanthropy
Corporate Community Investment Practices, Motivations & Challenges: Findings from the Canada Survey of Business Contributions to Community finds that the community investment initiatives of many of Canada’s corporations are leveraging their assets in more ways than the public, or even the charities and nonprofits they support, might think. This research provides the first-ever, comprehensive portrait of business contributions to charities and nonprofit organizations in Canada.
A breakfast event on Monday Dec. 8 from 7:30 – 9:00 am will feature highlights from the Canada Survey of Business Contributions to Community report.
Timely Report examines Foundation giving in Economic Crisis
Do Foundation Giving Priorities Change in Times of Economic Distress? by the U.S. Foundation Centre has released an examination to answer the question of whether specific funding areas may be more vulnerable to cuts than others during an economic downturn.
Communities must take the lead when addressing urban social issues
From the Ground Up: Community’s Role in Addressing Street Level Social Issues by the Canada West Foundation argues that there is no substitute for community action when addressing street level urban social issues.

Volunteer Lawyers Service website changed
The Volunteer Lawyers Service (VLS) assists eligible non-partisan charitable organizations in obtaining pro bono legal services that would otherwise be unavailable to them due to a lack of financial resources.

These awards recognize immigrant individuals and companies who have demonstrated outstanding achievements and contributions in the areas of Arts & Culture, Business, Community Services, Distinguished Professionals and Organizational Diversity in Business and Governmental or Non-Profit.
