Save the date for CCVO’s AGM
The Annual General Meeting for the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (CCVO) is June 21 from 4:00 to 6:00pm. More details will come in a later Email Bulletin and online.
Provincial Budget info – coming soon
The provincial budget for 2007 will be announced on Thursday. Stay tuned for information about the budget and how it’s expected to affect the non-profit sector.
National Volunteer Week, April 15 -21
It’s National Volunteer Week! Volunteer Alberta’s website includes resources and tips on how to celebrate and promote volunteerism.

Share your ideas about crime reduction
The Alberta Crime Reduction and Safe Communities Task Force invites Albertans to share ideas on how to reduce crime, enhance safety and improve public confidence in the justice system. Join Calgary’s public and stakeholder session on May 24 or send in a questionnaire. Visit www.safecommunities.gov.ab.ca.
City Council approves Cultural Spaces for the Arts Strategy
In response to research highlighting shortfalls in Calgary's inventory of arts facilities, City Council approved a recommendation to include capital programs for arts spaces worth up to $150 million in the City's Culture, Parks & Recreation Infrastructure Investment Plan (CPRIIP) over the next seven years. Women's emergency shelters receive funding
The Alberta government has invested $1.5 million in women's emergency shelters to support professional development and training for staff, child care for families where parents go to shelters, and emergency services at rural shelters. The funding helps address some recommendations from a review of the Women's Emergency Shelter Program.

2007 Donner Awards
The 10th annual Donner Awards give $70,000 in cash awards to recognize non-profit excellence, raise awareness, and provide non-profits with performance information. Application deadline is May 15.
Conferences and Seminars
Vitalize Conference June 7-9
The Vitalize professional development conference for the voluntary sector runs from June 7 to 9 at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary. You can now view the conference schedule and register online.
Directors’ and Officers’ Liability Insurance seminar
Volunteer Alberta is offering free, interactive and informative seminars on Directors' and Officers' Liability Insurance, delivered by an insurance professional. The Calgary session is on May 2.
