Katherine
van Kooy – President and
CEO
With a broad and diverse background in consulting,
public policy, strategic planning and organizational
change, Katherine leads the
CCVO in its vision to establish the voluntary sector
as an equal partner with government and business
in creating a sustainable community.
Katherine held senior public policy positions
in Saskatchewan and Ontario. In addition to her
municipal and provincial government experience,
she taught management and public policy courses
at the University of Regina. After moving to Calgary
in 1998, she established a consulting practice
focusing on organizational effectiveness and strategic
management.
Her academic credentials include an Honours BA
in Political Science from the University of Waterloo,
graduate studies in International Affairs at Carleton
University and an MBA from Cornell University.
Janet Lavoie – Director, Membership Development
Janet has worked in the voluntary sector for most of her professional life and has volunteered in numerous settings. Since working as a communications coordinator for the Voluntary Sector Initiative, she has become dedicated to the notion of greater representation and recognition for the sector. Her experience as a grantmaker with The Calgary Foundation deepened her knowledge and appreciation of the diverse and complex work of charities and non profit organizations in Calgary.
Janet brings an understanding of the sector’s potential and expertise as well as its needs and challenges to her membership development role. She enjoys meeting and working with groups in all areas of the sector and engaging members in programs and services.
Glenda Blissett - Communications Advisor
Glenda brings over 30 years of comprehensive experience in Marketing and Communications Management to CCVO in her role of Communications Advisor.
In addition to communications and community relations management experience in Ottawa, she has held senior positions with many national organizations, including as National Communications Chairperson of the National Kidney Foundation of Canada. Most recently she was Manager, Client Relations, and Manager, Programs for Calgary’s CentrePoint Non-Profit Management, where she built and launched the new CentrePoint name, brand and website.
Glenda holds a BA from the University of Ottawa, an MA in Communications from the University of Ohio and continues to pursue certifications in her field, including a Design and Publishing Certificate from Mount Royal College.
Mike Grogan – Project Manager, HR Initiative
Mike has worked with nonprofit organizations for over 20 years in areas such as program development and evaluation, adult education and organizational effectiveness. Mike recently completed his Masters of Arts in Leadership degree from Royal Roads University. His enthusiasm and passion for the sector are evident in his numerous volunteer activities in community services, youth and sports organizations.
Mike’s strengths in strategic planning, organizational leadership and team building will be an asset as he leads and coordinates the work of the Calgary Human Services HR Initiative.
Kim Mustard – Policy Analyst
Kim has over 10 years experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors. In her current role, she combines her passion for the sector with an in-depth knowledge of policy issues. Her experience in the sector, including roles as a grantmaker with the Alberta Real Estate Foundation and Calgary Co-op's Community Investment program have developed an understanding of many of the issues and challenges in the non-profit sector.
Kim leads CCVO’s policy work, including tracking public policy issues, convening caucuses of sector members and developing position statements. She leads and coordinates research projects and monitors external research activities related to the voluntary sector. She is also responsible for managing CCVO’s Policy Series events.
Kim holds a Masters of Arts in Communications from the University of Calgary.
Marilou Stegmeier– Administrative Coordinator
Marilou is an experienced administrator from the Calgary Board of Education and the University of Alberta. Her experience in financial management, human resource administration and operations management includes the implementation of FOIPP and PeopleSoft at the University of Alberta. She also has experience in the service, retail and manufacturing industries.
Marilou brings a wealth of experience in office administration and accounting to CCVO. Marilou holds a Certificate in Business Administration in Advanced Accounting from Mount Royal College.
Joanna Farley– Program Assistant
Joanna received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from the University of Calgary in 2005. She has experience in communications, event planning, project management and programs administration in the private, non-profit and public sectors. A dedicated volunteer, Joanna has been a board member, event planner, volunteer coordinator and a marketing and communications assistant for multiple Calgary non-profits.
Joanna manages the Online Job Centre and pubication of the bi-weekly electronic bulletin, and assists the CCVO team with membership, communications and events.
Tina Wickenheiser – Executive Assistant
Tina brings a wealth of experience to the CCVO with a broad background in corporate administration and IT software and document management. Tina's organizational and interpersonal skills along with her natural ability to learn new systems in today's ever changing office environments is of great benefit to our organization.
Tina provides administrative support to Katherine van Kooy and the CCVO team, as well as to the CCVO's Board of Directors. She is the initial point of contact for the organization.
