nonprofit sector

This guidebook by the Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (CCVO) is part of a long-term change initiative which focuses on developing awareness, attitudes and practices for creating culturally competent, inclusive and respectful nonprofit organizations. Funding for the project was provided by the Government of Alberta through the Human Rights Education and Multiculturalism Fund and United Way of Calgary and Area through the Shell Immigrant Employment Project.

The HR Council for the Nonprofit Sector (HR Council) commissioned a study of Labour Market Information (LMI) to improve the data available to nonprofits. This study of LMI for the nonprofit sector included work with an Advisory Committee, stakeholder consultations and a review of existing data on the sector. The consultations included discussions with data producers, intermediaries (e.g., umbrella organizations, resource centres), end users (e.g., nonprofit organizations, researchers, etc.) and LMI experts from other sectors and jurisdictions.

In January 2008, the Calgary Committee to End Homelessness began the implementation of Canada's first 10-year Housing First-based model to eliminate homelessness.

A report based on a study trip to the UK in October 2010.
