Appraising City Council - Let's Broaden the Discussion

Recent articles in the Calgary Herald regarding aldermanic "Report Cards" and expenditures have raised concerns with a number of organizations. Because CCVO has been approached by other groups about this coverage, we would like to share a modified version of an unpublished submission to the Herald's Opinion-Editorial page.

Calgary nonprofits and several aldermen are concerned that the creation of a low-income transit pass for Calgary would lead to up to 1.5 million being diverted away from local charities and nonprofits after another alderman calls for the financial resources for the program to come from voluntary sector funder FCSS Calgary.
