Ed Stelmach, the new Premier of Alberta, has announced a number of changes to the structure of the Provincial Government, including:

• Reduction of ministries from 24 to 18
• Four Cabinet Policy Committees to replace previous six Standing Policy Committees

The following key ministry changes directly affect voluntary sector issues:

• Lloyd Snelgrove is the President of the Treasury Board and will act as the Minister of Service Alberta (which combines the functions of Government Services and Restructuring and Government Efficiency)

• Ray Danyluk is the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing (which now includes libraries, community and voluntary sector services- formerly in the Ministry of Community Development.)

• Hector Goudreau is the Minister of Tourism, Parks, Recreation and Culture (which maintains the functions of the former Ministry of Community Development and takes on responsibility for lottery funding programs and tourism and film programs).
